Chamber of trade

The Chamber was formed in January 2007, to provide a voice and source of support for local businesses. Meetings are held several times a year, generally t at the Bank Corner pub or Alsager Golf Club. The meetings are a useful way of networking with local businesses and airing concerns. Recently the Chamber has started a shop watch scheme with support from the local PCSO and Cheshire police.

The Chairman is Chris Shemilt of Lyon and Co, and Secretary is John Poulson of JPA Calendars. Activities to date have included support to businesses with the use of technology, creation of a shoppers map, improvements to the Christmas lights, and a Christmas lights switch on and Christmas market. The Chamber has received support over the last year from the North West Development Agency through the Rural Enterprise Fund, Alsager Town Council, Congleton Borough Council, Alsager Round Table, Alsager Co-op , Town and Country Markets , Sainsburys, South East Cheshire Enterprise and Congleton Borough Chamber of Commerce.. Membership is open to all local businesses and charitable organisations.
